Location
Just on the Tipperary Offaly border, Ballydonagh House is located close to the historic village of Cloughjordan. Legend has it that a Norman knight, travelling back from the Crusades, brought a stone from the River Jordan in the Holy Land, and added it to the doorway of his castle – lending the name “Clogh” meaning “stone” – Jordan to the area.

Today you’ll find a pretty village, with bars, shops and restaurants. There is a primary school, preschool and crèche. Secondary schools are in the nearby towns of Roscrea, Nenagh, Borrisokane and Birr. There is a strong community spirit, while the Eco Village puts Cloughjordan at the forefront of new architectural and environmental thinking. The train station at Cloughjordan connects to Dublin and Limerick, via Ballybrophy.

The nearest town is Roscrea at 15km, with ample shopping, schools, GAA and leisure centres.

As well as the horse-riding at Ballydonagh itself, sporting enthusiasts can enjoy all the nearby water and fishing activities on the Shannon and Lough Derg. There is GAA in Moneygall and Roscrea, and golf, rugby and soccer in Nenagh, Roscrea and Birr. Cycling and hiking around the nearby Slieve Blooms and Devils Bit Mountains.
