Lachaghmore House – Circa 1800 Farmhouse on 4.28 Acres of Land

Keller Williams Galway is delighted to present Lackaghmore House, a traditional farmhouse set on 4.28 acres in Lackagh, Turloughmore, Co. Galway. Ideally located just 18 km from Galway City and 17 km from Athenry, the property sits beside the thriving village of Lackagh, home to excellent schools, sports facilities, shops, and a wide range of local amenities. Positioned along the R354, the property enjoys excellent road frontage and is bounded to the west by the Clare River, a renowned salmon and trout river (unregistered).

The Farmhouse
Built Circa 1800 and extending to approximately 2065 sq. ft. / 192 sq. m, this solid residence is constructed of cut limestone with full limestone foundations. The house now requires total renovation, offering an outstanding opportunity to restore a historic property to its former charm. The property is being sold ‘as is’ and may qualify for the Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant.

Outbuildings & Land
Large traditional stone barn to the rear with two adjoining sheds suitable for storage. Three partially demolished buildings on the left-hand side of the holding were damaged during Storm Desmond. Approximately 4.28 acres of land, ideal for grazing, small-scale agriculture, or hobby farming.

Heritage & History
The lands form part of the historic Coolarne–McWilliams estate. Lackaghmore House is recorded as the first dwelling on the original Ordnance Survey map, and is the birthplace of Fr. Tom McDonogh, who played a significant role in Irish history by bringing Charles Stewart Parnell and Michael Davitt to Irishtown, where the Land League was founded. This pivotal event aimed to remove violence from the fight for Irish land rights and freedom.
